Robin Westen was born and raised in New York City. She's worked as a typist, sales clerk, waitress, receptionist, bartender, factory worker, press representative, researcher, publicity agent, editor and teacher, as well as for radio, television and film before beginning her freelance writing career over twenty years ago. 

Westen was awarded an outstanding writing Emmy for ABC Daytime and received the American Women in Media’s Outstanding Achievement Award by Good Housekeeping Magazine; she was nominated for an American Society of Magazine Editors award, the top honor in the field, in the service category. She has taught writing at Hunter College in New York City and the Community College of Vermont (Brattleboro).

Robin lives in DUMBO, Brooklyn, and summers in Brattleboro, Vermont, with her family and New England friends. She continues to be a serious meditator, yoga practitioner and questioner.

Westen is a member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA) and the Writers Guild of America (WGA).
